Norman Cousins said: “Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.”
In its recent issue, Newsweek magazine proclaimed that Christianity in America is dying. One need not read the entire article (unless you’re obsessed with half-truths). The title of the article, “The Decline and Fall of Christian America,” is sufficient to get the writer’s point across in full – like the blinking neon sign outside a sleazy strip club: you don’t need to go through the doorway to know what’s happening inside.
Today, at this moment, it is the believers who have chosen not to place their faith "...in princes and sons of men." It is the faithful who will ensure America’s survival, not the neurotic assumptions of implacable doubters that Christianity is on the endangered list.
Americans who trust, hope and believe in the Highest Power – and who stand in humility, joy and awe of Him – have never been more lucid in their faith. Listen to a young cowboy named Logan. He reached out to God for comfort after a heartrending experience. God heard Logan and came to him, and He helped him through that crisis.
Read the words of John Quincy Adams, the most incorruptible and distinguished man of his age, in a letter he wrote to his son: “I advise you, my son, in whatever you read, and most of all in reading the Bible, to remember that it is for the purpose of making you wiser and more virtuous.”
John Quincy Adams was one of America’s finest sons whose life was devoted to service, not to entertaining his fellow countrymen. He was a man who, by virtue of his unwavering faith in God, lived his life calmly, yet boldly, and completely without defiance. And he was entirely devoted to human rights, to the equality of all men, and to the construction of the unparalleled freedoms by which Americans have since lived and flourished.
As in centuries past and all over creation, fanatics continue attempting to control hearts and minds away from spiritual faith. Such attempts always coincide with social and financial upheavals. Today’s economic blight is just such an upheaval – a monumental affliction caused by underhanded politicians and world leaders, and their equally devious followers and supporters (whose names, alone, are anathema to righteousness).
The obsessive media, without regard to decency, are using this turmoil to take yet another crack at seizing what they consider productive ground into which to plant their destructive seeds. They are on tenterhooks that their infertile progeny will, at last, develop to choke the life out of a person's spiritual faith. History has proven again and again that this will never happen, because it is they, not Christians, who are on the hook with their shriveled opinions.
Emperor Nero failed, as did the Spanish Inquisition and the Holocaust. Saddam Hussein and his hero, Josef Stalin, gave it their best shot. They and every other madman dictator were eventually crushed under the weight of their own actions when they attempted to go head-to-head with unshakeable faith.
God teaches that we must love one another, which isn’t as difficult as it sounds. Peace on Earth is not unattainable; it’s only being ignored. It always has been with God’s blessings that this great country and its equally great peoples have been protected and defended, albeit with the sacrifice by its sons and daughters of their own lives, for which our gratitude to each of them and their families can never be fully expressed.
No matter the liberal mainstream media's efforts to flush God out of our consciousness, the faithful across this planet will survive the tests put before us by atheists, hostile aggressors, propagandists, and egomaniacal world leaders both here and abroad.
